Alistair Turner; Kyles Athletic & Glasgow Mid Argyll
Monday, August 13th, 2012 at 2:58PM
It is with much regret that we record the passing of Alistair Turner, known affectionately to his many friends as Tumshie.
A very talented shinty player, he was rightly proud of his roots in the Kyles of Bute and the achievements of Kyles Athletic, his first club. He was a member of Glasgow Mid Argyll for over 50 years and his loyalty to and support for the club remained throughout that time.
Alistair was particularly pleased to be asked to present the Glasgow Celtic Society Cup last year to Kyles Athletic on the 50th anniversary of he himself receiving the cup as winning captain of G.M.A. He will be remembered as a gentleman by all who knew him, but most of all as a good and kindly family man.
A church service will be held on Wed 15th Aug at 10.30am at Westerton Fairlie Memorial Parish Church, 15 Crarae Avenue, Bearsden, G61 1HX.
The funeral service will be held on Thurs 16th Aug at 11.00am at Kyles Parish Church, Kames, and thereafter to the Tighnabruaich Cemetery, Millhouse.
