Badenoch welcomes Women’s Development Camp

Despite the wet weather, over 30 participants from all over Scotland enjoyed taking part in the first Womens Camanachd Association’s development camp this weekend. This was organised to give players of all abilities, backgrounds and ages an opportunity to experience top coaching expertise in shinty’s heartlands, as well as providing a chance to meet socially outside of the league structure.

The camp started on Saturday with a warm-up and skills training session in Kingussie, before moving to Newtonmore. It had been hoped to take in the Macaulay Cup semi-final, however this was called off due to the severe weather conditions. Fortunately, areas of the Eilan were still suitable for use, and participants were able to practice ball control and small-sided matches, in addition to gaining an understanding of the finer points of playing on a waterlogged pitch.
