BBC ALBA TO BROADCAST SHINTY/HURLING MATCH
Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at 9:20AM
This Saturday, 22nd October, sees the Shinty/Hurling International Away Test take place in Athy, Co. Kildare where Scotland’s Senior National Squad takes on Ireland’s National Hurling Squad.
The full match will be broadcast on BBC ALBA on Sunday 23rd October at 4.00pm and repeated at 10.30pm.
In 2010, Scotland recorded an epic victory at Croke Park over the Irish. However the Irish sought revenge a fortnight later in Inverness and Scotland lost out on lifting the trophy.
The deciding Marine Harvest Shinty/Hurling International Home Test will be played at 2.00pm on Saturday 29th October when Scotland will host their Irish counterparts at Bught Park, Inverness.
Across the two tests, series scoring will be applied. This is 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and zero for a loss. A team who scores two or more goals in one match will be awarded 1 bonus point. Should the series score be tied following the second test, the team with the highest aggregated score over the two tests will be deemed the winner.
In addition to the Senior’s encounter, the Scottish and Irish Under 21s will also play their annual International match and the Scottish Women’s Shinty Squad will meet a British Universities Camogie Side in a challenge match. These matches throw-in at 12.00pm and 10.30am respectively; both at Bught Park.
Tickets for the Home Test in Inverness are now on sale via Eden Court Theatre’s Box Office.
