Fionnuala Stark first to complete UKCC Level 1

The Camanachd Association is delighted to report that the first shinty coach to complete the new United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC) Level 1 Coaching in Shinty qualification is PE Teacher and Lochcarron Camanachd Youth Coach Fionnuala Stark.
Fionnuala attended the course at the start of the year and following a period of putting into practice the additional knowledge she had gained, her final assessment was completed at Lochcarron Camanachd recently.
In her feedback of the course Fionnuala stated “The course was very well run and I learnt a lot about shinty, the skills involved and ways of teaching those skills. The course also provided me with activities and strategies which could also be used in teaching other sports. We were also challenged to think about what we were doing (and why) and encouraged to get our players to do likewise ”
The Camanachd Association achieved endorsement of this new course from sportscoachUK at the end of last year and this places our Coach Education structure on a par with the very best in the UK.
