Hebridean Celtic Festival Cup

Lewis Camanachd and Uist Camanachd will again face each other in the Hebridean Celtic Festival Cup Final this Saturday 14th July.

This will be the sixth time the “Hebcelt” has been played and the keenly-contested match between the two Hebridean clubs has now become a traditional part of the Festival Saturday.

The Hebridean Celtic Festival has played a major role as sponsors of the fixture since 2007 by providing the players involved with the opportunity to enjoy the Festival afterwards as well as a platform from which to promote shinty in the Western Isles.

Lewis are the current holders but Uist will be confident that they can reclaim the title they last won in 2009. Last year’s fixture drew a record crowd and another big day is anticipated.

The match throws-up at 2pm on Saturday 14th July at Bayhead Pitches, Stornoway. Entry is by donation.

The award-winning Hebridean Celtic Festival begins on Wednesday 11th July and throughout the festival will feature famous bands such as Mànran, Kassidy, the Proclaimers, Julie Fowlis, Niteworks and the Waterboys. Tickets for the festival and more info are available at hebceltfest.com.
