Inveraray win AJG Parcels Celtic Society Cup

Inveraray won the AJG Parcels Celtic Society Cup Final last weekend with an emphatic 14-0 victory over Taynuilt at Strachur’s new playing field.

The Final had originally been scheduled for Saturday 23rd June but was postponed due to an unplayable field.

This marked Taynuilt’s first appearance in the South area competition as opposed to their opponents who had virtually dominated the cup over the past decade.

It was clear from the start of the match that Inveraray had no intention of lessening their domination and Russell MacKinlay scored his first of four goals in the 6th minute.  Garry MacPherson and Chris Crawford quickly made it 3-0 by the 22nd minute.  Taynuilt sustained further pressure until a minute before the break when MacKinlay scored his second.

Inveraray continued on their scoring form in the second half and Garry MacPherson made it 5-0 in 49.  Ruaridh Graham then bagged a hat-trick in less than six minutes in between which time Russell MacKinlay also completed his hat-trick.  Not to be outdone Euan McMurdo then added his own hat-trick to Inveraray’s goal tally in the 61st, 64th and 80th minutes and Garry MacPherson made it 13-0 shortly after.  Finally Russell MacKinlay completed Inveraray’s scoring a minute before full time leaving it 14-0.
