North Area District U14 & U17 Representative Matches

Under 14 and under 17 age group district representative matches for the North area are to be held at Spean Bridge over the first two Sundays in September.
As well as being inter – district competitions the events will also provide an opportunity for players to stake a claim for places in The North representative teams to play the South on October the 7th at Fort William.
The four Districts are:
Badenoch -Kingussie, Newtonmore, Strathspey
Inverness area – Glenurquhart, Lovat, Beauly, Caberfeidh, Inverness, Strathglass, Boleskine
Lochaber – Kilmallie, Fort William, Glengarry, Ardnamurchan, Lochaber
Skye & W Ross – Uist, Lewis, Skye, Lochbroom, Lochcarron, Kinlochshiel
The Format is:
An appointed coach for each District will select an 18 player squad after contacting all club youth coaches in their area for nominations/recommendations.
The District Coach will prepare their squad and take them to the Inter District competition at Spean Bridge which will be played out on one day.
A draw will be made on the day and the first two districts drawn will play each other followed by the remaining two.
The runners up will play off for 3rd/4th place and the winners will play off for 1st/2nd
Dates and times are:
U14’s – Sunday 2nd September commencing at 12.00. Games will be 25 minutes each way.
U17’s – Sunday September 9th commencing 12.00. Games will be 30 minutes each way.
The Coaches for 2012 are:
Badenoch – U14 Michael Ritchie, U17 Glenn Tonkin
Inverness – U14 James Gallagher, U17 Davie Stewart
Lochaber – U14 Victor Smith, U17 Ali Ferguson
Skye & W. Ross – U14 John Macleod, U17 Murdo Fraser
The Referees are:
Sunday 2nd September – Graham Cameron, Graham Irving
Sunday 9th September – Deek Cameron, Innes Woods
The coaches of the two Districts that contest the finals will be offered the opportunity to work together to select and coach The North Area team against The South Area at Fort William on Sunday 7th October 2012.
It is hoped that this event can be held annually and as well as making the North area selection process as open and transparent as possible it will provide players and coaches with a pathway from club shinty to District and on to Area shinty before progressing on to International participation.
Rules and Conditions:
All players must be eligible to compete in the 2012 U14 and U17 Camanachd Association competitions and be C.A. members.
The District coaches selection decisions shall be final and are not open to appeal or negotiation.
Players who cannot play in District games due to illness, injury, holidays or school trips will still be available for selection for the North area at coaches discretion although players will greatly increase their chances by taking part.
Standard C.A. rules will apply during games although all 6 substitutes will be allowed to be rolled on and off at any time.
Clubs are asked to co – operate with and assist District coaches wherever possible with player contact details and transport for trials or matches.
District coaches will be rotated each year so that all clubs and coaches are given an opportunity to contribute.
