North Area District U17 Representative Matches

Following the Under 14s last weekend, the Camanachd Association is holding Under 17 age group district representative matches for the North area at Spean Bridge this coming Sunday, 9th September.
As well as being inter–district competitions, the events will also provide an opportunity for players to stake a claim for places in the North representative teams who will take on the South on October 7th at An Aird, Fort William.
The four Districts and managers are Badenoch – U14 Michael Ritchie, U17 Glenn Tonkin, Lochaber – U14 Victor Smith, U17 Ali Ferguson, Inverness – U14 James Gallagher, U17 Davie Stewart and Skye & Wester Ross – U14 John Macleod, U17 Murdo Fraser.
The action gets underway at 12pm and will see the U17s play an hour long semi- finals and 3rd/4th place play off before the final.
The event is kindly sponsored by Ferguson Transport.
The coaches of the two Districts that contest the finals will be offered the opportunity to work together to select and coach The North Area team against The South Area at Fort William on Sunday 7th October 2012.
It is hoped that this event can be held annually and as well as making the North area selection process as open and transparent as possible it will provide players and coaches with a pathway from club shinty to District and on to Area shinty before progressing on to International participation.
