Following a very successful internal recruiting campaign, the SCOTS Shinty club has now been reconstituted as SCOTS Camanachd. The new name was selected to reflect that the club now has has a squad that is drawn from the Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, Territorial Army and Royal Marine Reserves.
SCOTS Camanachd also has a new club badge that reflects the history and background of the Armed Forces in Scotland. Of particular note is the new club motto: La a’bhlair ‘s math na cairdean. This is the inscription on the 51st (Highland) Division memorial at Beaumont – Hamel in France, which when translated means “Friends are good on the day of battle”.
SCOTS Camanachd are delighted to announce a three year strip sponsor ship deal with TES Electronic Solutions a leading electronics design services company.
SCOTS Camanachd season, is as usual, limited to cup games only. Their cup campaign starts on 21st April with their first round Sutherland Cup match against Caberfeidh at Musselburgh. This match is followed by the Scott Bain Memorial game against Strathglass on Tuesday 24 April in Cannich and on Saturday 28 April SCOTS Camanachd will play the first ever Armed Forces shinty/hurling match against the Irish Defence Force at the Bught Park, Inverness.
