The first of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Semi Finals takes place this coming Saturday when Kinlochshiel take on Inveraray at An Aird, Fort William.
This is Kinlochshiel’s first appearance in the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Semi and it falls in their first year competing the sport’s top league, the Orion Group Premiership, following promotion from Marine Harvest North Division One in 2011. On their road to the Semi Final, Kinlochshiel saw off Kingussie and Lovat, so will relish the opportunity to take on Inveraray and book their first ever spot in the Final of shinty’s most coveted prize.
Inveraray, whose victories over Strathglass and Kilmallie secured their place in the Semi Final, have four previous Camanachd Cup wins under their belt, the last being in 2004 against Fort William, and also made it to the Semi Final stage in 2011, but were defeated by the eventual winners, Newtonmore.
The Semi Final will be televised LIVE on BBC ALBA from 4.00pm at An Aird; the facilities first match since works were completed on the field.
The second Semi Final between Kyles Athletic and Newtonmore takes place the following Saturday, 11th August, at Mossfield Park, Oban.
