The Gilmour Sports Shinty World Cup

Warm sunshine and a perfect playing surface greeted the 22 teams who contested The Gilmour Sports Shinty World Cup 6 a sides at Bught Park Inverness on Wednesday 20th June.

Ten teams contested the P5’s & Under competition on the pitch at the Town end of The Bught.  After some closely fought games in two leagues of five, the 9 – 10th placed play off was won by Gergask against Kinlochleven, Kingussie defeated Newtonmore to finish seventh, Lochcarron beat Kirkhill for fifth and Inverlochy edged out Alvie for third. Lochaber added the P5 & Under World Cup to their Indoor National First Shinty title when they beat Beauly 4 – 1 in an exciting Final.

The p7 & Under Plate competition had an entry of six teams including three Inverness primary Schools. Following some tight league games the fifth – sixth place play off ended all square with B.S.G.I. and Dalneigh sharing fifth place. Lochcarron defeated Balnain for third and Leven won the Final 3 – 0 against surprise package of the day, Raigmore.

Kingussie rounded off a good few days at The Bught when they added The P7 and under World Cup to the 12 a side Tulloch Trophy they won last Saturday. The Final against great rivals Banavie was a very close affair and a solitary strike was all that separated the teams at full time. In a derby match for third place Kirkhill defeated Beauly by the same score. Kingussie B edged out Newtonmore 2 – 0 to finish fifth.
