The Camanachd Association encourages officials to deliver the highest standards of officiating at all times and is committed to providing an appropriate training and support structure for all levels.
A four hour Course, including a Fitness test, designed to assist any adult (16 years and over) to officiate at youth and senior reserve team level. Successful candidates will be included in the Grade 3 Referee Data Base.
The Foundation Course is designed to help any adult, with limited knowledge of Refereeing and the game of shinty, to officiate at youth and reserve level matches. Referees who officiate at reserve level will be eligible for a small payment plus travel expenses.
The course will provide the candidate referee with the information, advice, and encouragement they may need to help players participate in a safe and enjoyable environment. The course includes the Fitness Test for Referees.

Entry Requirements: Candidates must be over 16 years of age.
Cost: The course is free and delivered by fully qualified tutors. Each candidate will receive a Resource Pack and Rules Booklet. First year membership of the Camanachd Association (£15 adult – £5 U-18) and Camanachd Referees Association (£15) is available.
All Match Officials require to have appropriate public liability insurance and this is provided free by the Camanachd Association due to sponsorship by insurers sportsguard.
Duration: The course duration is approximately four hours.
Application: Applications to host a course will be accepted from Clubs/Schools who can provide appropriate facilities and a viable minimum of 8 candidates. Clubs/Schools with less than 8 will be combined where possible. Full Host requirements are detailed on Page 2

With the agreement of the host Club/School courses will be advertised, where appropriate, to other Club/Schools and applications will be accepted up to a set maximum number.

On agreement of a date for the course and following the booking of appropriate facilities the Club/School contacts will be sent the following for distribution:
CA & CRA Application Forms, Course Programme, Priority Rules of Play & Code of Conduct
The contacts should collate and return:
