Child Protection

The Child Protection Policy of the Camanachd Association is set out in ByeLaw 6.

By virtue of their membership of the Camanachd Association, every affiliated Association, Club and individual is bound by the Camanachd Association’s Child Protection Procedures. The procedures apply throughout the sport of shinty.

The procedures provide practical guidance to help club officials, coaches and child protection co-ordinators to implement the policy.

The procedures are not intended to add to the burden of the people who run shinty clubs. They aim to bring clarity to the task of ensuring that children and young people can enjoy shinty in a safe, healthy and happy environment. References in the policy and procedures to members of the Camanachd Association mean:

• Any person employed by the Camanachd Association
• Any person who is a current member of the Camanachd Association by virtue of having paid the appropriate subscription fee.
• Any person acting on behalf of the Camanachd Association in a voluntary capacity.
• Any person carrying out duties under the auspices of an affiliated Association or member club of the Camanachd Association, whether in salaried or voluntary capacity.
