Alastair Milne - Beauly

Alistair Milne who played for the club in fifties and sixties has died at the age of 92.Alistair affectionately known as “Bumber” was a regular member of the highly successful Beauly teams which captured four Sutherland Cup in the fifties as well as securing four Strathdearn Cup triumphs.

He was the oldest survivor of that wonderful era in the club’s history.

Later in life Alistair made an exceptional contribution to local government, serving on Inverness Town Council, Inverness District Council, Highland Regional Council and latterly The Highland Council from 2003 to 2007.He was a representative for the Ballifeary and Dalneigh areas of Inverness where he lived most of his life

In 2014 Alistair was made a Life Member of Beauly Shinty Club.

He is survived by his wife Winifred and his two children Ian and Alison.
