The Blue Flash Challenge 2018 run in support of the charity - Scotty’s Little Soldiers - takes place this weekend. The Charity supports the families of fallen military personnel and is associated with the Royal Tank Regiment.
The events this weekend include an off-road Endurance Trek from Fort Augustus to Strathpeffer overnight on Friday 29/30th June involving teams of four of military veterans and others, a Charity Shinty Match involving The Scots and Caberfeidh Shinty Teams, a Motorbike Rally involving military veterans and a Grand Ceilidh and Buffet in the evening in The Spa Pavilion featuring – LIFE O’REILLY and HERON VALLEY.
At 1.30pm those who participated in the Trek will march onto the Shinty Pitch at Castle Leod, Strathpeffer to be presented with their medals by The Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty. Mrs Janet Bowen.
The Shinty Match will start at 2pm.
The Motor Cyclists will leave earlier to tour round Loch Ness before returning to the Shinty Field.
The doors will open for the Ceilidh and Buffet at 6.30pm. Those not attending the Buffet will be admitted after 9pm.
At 11am on Sunday 1st July a Service of Remembrance will be held within Fodderty and Strathpeffer Parish Church followed by Acts of Remembrance at the War Memorial at Fodderty Cemetery, Strathpeffer and the Korean War Memorial at Loch Kinellan, Strathpeffer.
