Donald “Dolan” MacMillan, Kinlochshiel

Former Kinlochshiel player Donald Macmillan passed away peacefully at his home on Friday 1st February after a short illness.

“Dolan” as he was better known came from a well-known shinty family.  His Grandfather played for Lovat before coming west in 1902 to work as a shepherd and he was one of the players in a Glenshiel team who played in the local parish games.  Dolan was the third generation of this family to play shinty in this area and was one of the original players who played for the newly formed Kinlochshiel Shinty Club in 1958. He continued playing during the sixties and seventies and then was a member of the Kinlochshiel committee for a number of years. His shinty legacy carries on as both his son and grandsons play for the present Kinlochshiel teams.

Our sympathies go out to his wife Glynnis, two daughters, two sons and all his grandchildren in their sad loss,

The Funeral service is to be held at Inverinate Church of Scotland on Thursday 7th February 2019 at 12noon and thereafter to Ard Dearg Cemetery, Letterfearn.
