On the 9th and 10th of April 2018 over 120 young people took part in some Easter Shinty Activity.
Monday the 9th of April saw nearly 50 young people head to Portree High School for a day of skills, drills, games and most of all FUN. The weather was warm and dry and the participants were full of energy for the whole day, engaging themselves and making new friends in the process. This 1 day camp was supported by 9 amazing volunteer coaches from Skye Camanachd and South Skye Junior Shinty Club.
Tuesday 10th April came along and it was the Inverness Areas turn. Bught Park was the venue and in total 72 young people had signed up to the event. It was another dry day but bitterly cold, this didn’t deter any of the participants who were rosy cheeked but still smiling after being put through their paces by the fantastic coaches. A huge 17 volunteers were involved in the day from Beauly, Inverness, Lochaber, GlenUrquhart, Boleskine, and Lovat.
All of the children across the 2 days of shinty seemed to have a blast. Not only did they enjoy learning new skills and playing in fun games they also made new friends from clubs around Scotland which was fantastic to see.
Huge thank you to all of the volunteers (Coaches, Photographers, Behind the Scenes Helpers) who helped out over the 2 days, these events would definitely not have happened without your help, support and enthusiasm.
