Equality and Inclusion Working Group invitation
Shinty takes great pride, quite rightly, in its position as a community centred sport.
The Camanachd Association, as the world governing body of shinty, is fully committed to ensuring that shinty is open to all, and that barriers, (real and perceived) are removed, so that all members of the community are supported in achieving their potential, regardless of their role in the sport, e.g. staff, player, employee, coach, official or volunteer. This principle applies regardless of age, gender reassignment, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity and socio-economic status.
Our commitment to equality is central to all our work and the Camanachd Association were delighted to achieve the Preliminary Equality Standard in 2015. We are now starting to work towards gaining the Intermediate Equality Standard by March 2021.
A major element of this work is to assemble a Camanachd Association Equality Working Group. We would like to invite notes of interest from people with as wide a range of experiences and knowledge of life as possible regardless of age, gender reassignment, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity and socio-economic status.
The group will be tasked with responsibility for the development and submission of the application for the Intermediate Equality Standard. The group will include representatives of the CA Staff, member Clubs, Women’s shinty and the wider Shinty community. The group will probably only have to meet twice a year with all other correspondence by electronic means. If you would like to discuss this in more detail or register your interest please contact:
