Ferguson Transport and Shipping to sponsor National First Shinty Festivals
It is all eyes on youth shinty this Saturday (29 February) as the country’s best Primary School shinty sides come together in the 22nd National First Shinty Festivals in Fort William.
Over 100 teams from across Scotland competed in their local area qualifiers for a place in this year’s Finals which are split into two categories: Primary 7 & Under and Primary 5 & Under. There will be over 175 children participating on the day with 11 teams in the Primary 5 & Under category and 11 in Primary 7 & Under.
In speaking of the event, Camanachd Association Youth Director, Willie MacDonald, said:
“The National First Shinty Festivals are an important event for the young players as it brings together teams from all over the country. Year after year we see the best young talent that the sport has to offer and I am no doubt that this year will be no different. I would also like to thank Ferguson Transport and Shipping for sponsoring this year’s competitions.”

The Primary 7 & Under National First Shinty Final is taking place at the Nevis Centre, Fort William while the Primary 5 & Under National First Shinty Final will take place at Lochaber High School. The action gets underway at 12noon on Saturday 29th February and everyone is welcome to attend.
