Glen Urquhart Shinty Club would invite applications for the following roles within the club
First Team Manager
This role will require the coaching and development of the Glen Urquhart senior team within the National Division. Training process and sessions directly or via assistants / fitness trainer, the development of younger talent in conjunction with the junior team and U14/17 managers and the selection and administration of the team throughout the season. The senior team manager would also look to build a team of assistant manager / volunteer support staff around him to support the senior team through the season.
Second Team Manager
This role will support the first team manager in the development of younger players through the junior team with the aim of progressing players to senior team shinty. Training support, team selection and administration of team lines and travel arrangement to junior games throughout the season. Although this is an individual role in its own right with distinct goals for the junior team’s development and success, close co-operation with the senior team manager is essential to develop and progress players through to the senior level. The second team manager would also look to build a team of volunteer support staff around him to support the junior team.
Glen Urquhart Shinty Club would welcome applications from volunteers to join the clubs committee to support the sport of shinty within Drumnadrochit, Glenurquhart, and surrounding areas. We are currently seeking members to support key areas within the club for the coming seasons and would invite applications from people throughout the community who have an interest in the following roles.
Assistant to Club Secretary
To support the club secretary in the administration of the club and liaison with the Camanachd Association with regards to player registration, club accreditation requirements, and additional administration support.
Assistant Youth Convenor
Youth development and the provision of a fantastic sporting environment to encourage participation in the sport of shinty for both girls and boys of all ages from primary and secondary school level is an integral part of the philosophy of Glen Urquart Shinty Club. We seek the application of an individual / individuals who would like to assist our youth convenor in this area, the role is to grow and support the current experienced team in an exceptionally rewarding position, encouraging young people’s participation in our sport. Providing planning for training and development, supporting the youth teams to participate in cup, development, and other tournament events throughout the year.
To provide fixture planning, liaison with other clubs around fixture times and arrange the transport logistics when required for some away fixtures. This is a vital role within the club and is an essential task for the smooth running of games throughout the season.
Social media is an ever increasing area of information sharing between the club, members, volunteers and supporters. We would invite applications from individuals who wish to support the club with this role in terms of the clubs Facebook and Twitter accounts. The club also has its own website and tuition for this would also be available to a candidate with an interest in website maintenance and updating.
Support will always be provided for members entering the club with regards to role requirements, and support training where applicable.
Youth Coaches and Volunteers
Glen Urquhart Shinty Club provides an equal opportunities platform for all groups who wish to play shinty as a sport from primary school age, through youth shinty and into both women’s and men’s senior shinty teams. A vital part of this community focused club structure is the volunteers who coach, support coaches and assist within the various levels of the shinty clubs age ranges. These are exceptionally important to the club and are also rewarding for those that see their support help players to progress and continue to enjoy the sport of shinty.
Glen Urquhart Shinty Club provides the opportunity for volunteers and coaches to access various levels of coaching courses and other support courses such as first aid to enable them to feel confident in their roles and provide the very best support to players of all ages.
