GMA's McFadyen confident ahead of Liberty British Aluminium Cup Final

Jamie McFadyen celebrates with Glasgow Mid Argyll teammates

In preparation for the Liberty British Aluminium Cup Final the Camanachd Association has been speaking to players from both clubs. Today we will be featuring Glasgow Mid Argyll Club Captain Jamie McFadyen

How has the journey to the final been?

JM: Drawing Skye in the first round wasn’t an ideal start to the journey however we put in a good team performance and got the win. We hit some good form and that allowed us to reach the final comfortably.

How confident are you ahead of the final?

JM: I am confident we can get the win. Our defence is the best in the league right now, we have had some great additions to the team this year and things are starting to click into place after a slow start to our league campaign. The midfield and forwards have been playing some quality shinty and carry a serious threat. I believe we can win but we must put in the hard work and play like I know we can.

What do you think about the opposition? What kind of challenge will they represent?

JM: Fort William are flying high at the moment and will be tough to beat. They are a fit team and play fast flowing shinty. They have been scoring a lot of goals so it will be important that our midfield cut out their supply. I think this will be a fast-paced game that spectators will enjoy.

Having come so close last year, how determined are GMA to go all the way?

JM: We are more determined than ever to win the Balliemore Cup having come so close on multiple recent occasions. There is a real buzz about the club right now, we have a great group of guys who are hungry to win silverware.

Jamie McFadyen scored a double last weekend in GMA’s 4-0 demolition of Oban Celtic. Such heroics might be needed again on the 24th if GMA are to prevail against a strong Fort William side. For a full match preview click here.

Be sure to check in tomorrow as we feature National League top scorer, Fort William star, and Liberty employee, Arran MacPhee
