The draw for the 2020 Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup was made today (Wednesday 5th February) at the Highland Industrial Supplies Offices by HIS Director, Garry Mackintosh and Camanachd Association President, Keith Loades.
The draw is available here: Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup 2020
The first round of the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup takes place on Saturday 11th April and this year’s final is set for Saturday 29th August at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit.
In speaking of the sponsorship agreement, Garry Mackintosh of Highland Industrial Supplies said, “We are delighted to sign this 3-year partnership with the Camanachd Association, with an option to extend for a 4th year. Shinty is vital to so many of the communities that Highland Industrial Supplies operate in and we are looking forward to developing our partnership over the coming years.”
Camanachd Association President, Keith Loades, added, “This year’s draw has paired together some great teams and there is little doubt that this, the 97th playing of the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup will prove as entertaining and dynamic as it has done in previous years. I would like to wish all involved the very best.”
2020 represents the 97th edition of the Sir William Sutherland Cup and while the format of the competition has evolved over the years, what has not changed is that the Sutherland offers a fantastic opportunity for clubs in rural Scotland to aspire to silverware. Furthermore, the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup is a competition with a vast number of teams involved – meaning that a huge number of participants are able to reap the benefits that being active has on physical and mental health.
Camanachd Association CEO, Derek Keir, said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Highland Industrial Supplies. The commitment they have shown to supporting shinty helps the Camanachd Association and our member clubs to reach people in some of the most isolated communities in Scotland. The Camanachd Association endeavours to work with local businesses who operate and provide jobs for shinty communities and in signing off this partnership we are able to deliver on this objective. We are all very excited for what is to come and we are eagerly anticipating the start of one of our furthest reaching national competitions - the Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup”
