Mowi game of the week - Fort William vs Newtonmore

This week our Mowi game of the week features Fort William and Newtonmore who will do battle at An Aird on Saturday.

The two sides come together just 1 month after they met in the Strathdearn Cup Final at Spean. Fort William were runaway winners that day 4-0. An early bath for one of Newtonmore’s players meant that they were up against it for most of the match, something that Fort William capitalised on the longer the game went on. ‘More won the reverse fixture 4-2 and have undoubtedly got the most to play for going into this fixture.

Fort William are, this time, only playing for pride as they have no chance of winning the league and face no threat from relegation. Newtonmore however, will be desperate to keep up their assault on Glengarry’s pole position in the table. The Badenoch side sit 5 points behind the league leader’s and are set to play them on the 2nd of November in a match that could prove vital in the title race.

Fort William’s 1st team this week celebrated winning the Mowi National Division with a 100% record. The 2nds will be keen to follow in this vein by defeating the title challengers at home. Glengarry fans would be forgiven for adding to the sea of yellow at An Aird this Saturday with so much hanging in the balance. Throw up for this match is set to take place at 14:30 at An Aird.
