Portree defeated hosts Glen Urquhart High School in the final of the Great Glen School's Shinty Sixes in sudden death penalties today, Wednesday 30th August 2017, at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit.
After the group stages the semi finals saw Glen Urquhart A overcome Kingussie A team 4 - 1 and Portree defeating Kingussie B on penalties after regular and extra time finished 0 - 0.
In a close and exciting final Glen Urquhart opened the scoring in the first minute through Oliver Black, only for this to be equaled by Portree with the last hit of the ball in regular time through a Connor Gilpin strike.
After extra time remained goalless it fell to Martin Pringle of Portree to score the winning goal in sudden death penalties.
The third and fourth play off was an all Kingussie affair with the Kingussie B team gaining the bragging right by winning 2 - 1.
There was further joy for Portree when Connor Gilpin was awarded player of the tournament.
