This week’s Mowi game of the week sees Glasgow Mid Argyll travel to Fort William in the final game of the Mowi National Division.
The two promoted sides will once again come together having already met at the same venue in the Liberty British Aluminium Balliemore Cup Final in August. That day Fort William prevailed after what was a fantastic match – GMA led twice before Fort William triumphed in extra-time. The unbeaten champions might well go into the game as favourites after that victory but GMA have proved that they are a tough nut to crack. The Glasgow side only conceded 6 goals on their way to promotion and impressively disposed of Skye last weekend 3-1.
A combination of good fortune and the quality of An Aird means that Fort William finished all of their league fixtures, other than this, by mid-August. The champions will be raring to get on the pitch in front of their home fans and round off the season in style. The match will, no doubt, be an entertaining one where the two best teams in the Mowi National can play without the usual pressure. It is ultimately Fort William’s day to celebrate having won the league - but GMA will be determined to spoil the party and are certainly more than capable of doing so.
Not even Calum Mclay's mother would bet on him scoring 8 goals at the weekend which means Arran MacPhee will be justly rewarded for a fantastic season when he is officially confirmed as top-scorer.
Throw-up is at 14:30 at An Aird.
