Scotland Senior Women's Profile

In the lead up to this weekends International games we caught up with some of the Scotland Team and asked them to answer a few questions.

First up for the Women's team is Fort William and Scotland's Shannon Wilson.

What are your first memories of playing shinty?

I joined my local primary school shinty team when my brother started going and was the only girl going at the time.

Who was your first role model when you were younger and why?

My role model when I was younger was Laurene Cameron she always made me feel confident on the pitch and I always wanted to play for Scotland like she did.

What does it mean to you to play for Scotland?

Playing for Scotland was always a dream of mine when I was younger and to have been selected for the team twice now is a huge achievement for me and it makes me feel amazing.

What advice would you give to younger players who are maybe on the fringes of a senior team?

To stick in as hard as possible and one day the hard work will show. Try and make training every week... even when it’s raining.

Thanks Shannon, and best of luck for Saturday.
