Short preview of expectations:
Our aims this season for our teams is to Develop and have Fun. We are now into our 9th year and have been so lucky in being able to have a solid core of girls all through that time. However, we now feel it necessary to develop our younger girls for playing at a higher level and to keep encouraging new players to join. Our older girls are a great bunch of girls and have, through a lot of hard work, brought the Skye Ladies to where they are now, the younger girls now need to learn and follow in their footsteps. Ladies shinty has grown so much in the last few years and we have always had a great amount of fun playing and meeting new folk and this year we want to make sure that continue
This year we are lucky to have 3 coaches this season
John Angus - National Division - Having shadowed Robbie over the last couple of years I have big boots to fill but am really looking forward to working with the ladies. The Skye Ladies are a great bunch of girls which makes my role as coach much easier. We plan to use this year to develop our younger girls into the first team and enjoy the sport. It would be amazing to bring home some silverware throughout the season but with so many great female shinty players out there we will have to work for it.
John - North Division - Moving into the 2020 season I would like to see us progress up the table as we had in the 2019 season. We will as always aim to fulfill all the fixtures with hopefully no reschedules. I hope opposing teams will be accommodating in agreeing to play on astro if grass is unplayable. I hope to field a more consistent full team of 12 for every game, that being said, we have a talented bunch of Development Squad girls to call upon when we are short. I want the girls to continue to enjoy their shinty, play fair and have injury free fun whilst going out with a winning attitude and giving 110% at all times.
Kenny - Development League - I am looking forward to my first season with the Development team. I hope we get plenty of games at each meet given the logistics involved for the Skye girls. On the field I hope that our players continue to develop strongly, have fun and finish every match knowing they have given their all. Would also love to field two teams at some of the meets if interest from our newest and youngest players continues.
We would love to keep a spot in the top three of the National League but we have a lot of great teams looking to do the same so it will be a good battle.
North Division, to progress up the table a bit would be ideal.
Development League - Making it to the Development Finals and even a win would be great.
