The University of St Andrews Shinty Club will celebrate its eightieth anniversary at this year’s St Andrews Sixes on Sunday 6 May. The event features both a men’s and women’s tournament, and is ideally suited for young or development-level players.
The men’s tournament is played for the historic Fingal Memorial Shield which was first contested in 1940. The shield was presented in memory of Hugh MacCorquodale (1866-1937) of the Oban Times “for the encouragement of the game in the South.”
Entries for both the men’s and women’s tournament have been high this year with clubs attending from as far afield as Cornwall and Caithness. If you would like to enter a team, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The entry fee is £25 and teams are asked to arrive by 10.30am to ensure a sharp 11am start for both tournaments.
The tournament will be followed by the club’s Eightieth Anniversary Ceilidh at the St Andrews United Football Club, a perfect opportunity to show off newly-acquired silverware.
